Gearshift Coupler

A couple months after working on the truck I noticed it was unable to get out of 1st gear.  This meant the coupler between the gearshift rod & transmission rod had broken.  I bought all the parts from Bill & Steve's and jacked-up the truck for the repairs.

The gearshift coupler is located underneath the truck near the transmission.  It was coated in grease & grime, and the coupler had broken.  I removed the bolts & two pieces.  Then I removed the gearshift lever to allow the shift rod to move, allowing more space to install the new coupler.  New rubber boots were fitted and fresh bolts held everything together.  Then I wrapped metal wire between the two bolts to keep them from vibrating loose.

This repair took about two hours to complete, but now it works great!
