Delivered

The truck took a week to travel from central Missouri to San Diego, and it arrived on 14 September 2014.

I had not told my wife Kathe about the truck when I bought it, so when it was delivered to a nearby street, I had to be creative in how I announced the news. I got the truck in the garage without her noticing then when the kids were all together I told them to go see Gus.  They looked at me strangely and opened the garage door to see the truck.  The kids were thrilled and jumped right inside.  My wife asked how I got it and when it arrived, then said "Maybe you can teach me how to drive a stickshift someday".  Cool!

We always name our old VWs so I searched for a tough guy's name that had some meaning.  I recalled Kathe's German grandfather was named Gustav, so that was perfect.  The kids call it Gus-Bus.
