Gustav, 1963 VW Double Cab Truck

Don Heuer of Cape Girardeau MO bought the truck in 1966 from Jack Adams VW in town. Don was a local farmer & rancher outside town and needed a dependable truck that could handle the tasks on the farm.

 

A well-known show-horse breeder in Missouri, Don's horses won many awards for racking horses.  Hot Show was the 3rd fastest racking horse in the world, capable of racking at 29 mph.

 

The truck was used to haul feed, manure, & farm tools around the farm from 1966-1998.  It was then stored in one of the large barns on the farm until 2011 when it was discovered by its third owner.  Don had a stroke in 2011 and decided to sell the truck.  He contacted his local VW shop in town and asked them to get it in running condition.  He sold it months before he passed away in 2012.  He owned it 45 years.
