Christmas Cruise 2020

Despite a COVID-19 Lockdown order, the 10th annual San Diego Vintage VW Christmas Cruise was held on 12 December 2020. Everyone met across the street from Herman Cook VW in Encinitas. 60 vintage VWs participated & everyone brought a massive amount of toys to be donated to Toys For Tots. The event was dedicated to Don Shingledecker who passed-away in March. He was an avid VW owner, retired US Marine, and retired SD firefighter. Jeff Surf Art was there painting a VW Microbus scene on his easel with Sprinter Surf Van.

We drove through Encinitas, Del Mar, and stopped along the ocean in La Jolla. Then we continued into the roundabouts in Bird Rock, Pacific Beach, and onto Fiesta Island. From there we took the 5 freeway past downtown and over the Coronado Bridge, driving down the Silver Strand into Imperial Beach. Big Kahuna's stayed open for 50 VWs & 150 owners, and we had a nice collection of giveaways.

The toys & bikes were delivered to the US Marine Reserve center at Miramar. There must have been 400+ toys this year!
