"Ruby" 1962 T34 Cabriolet

The birth certificate from the Volkswagen Archives shows VIN #0 001 776.  The original engine was not included with the T34 when I found it.  It was built on 14 November 1961 and left the Karmann factory on 18 November for a dealership in Baden Baden Germany.  The original color was Ruby Red L456.

It's not known when it left Germany for America, but its first known registration in the USA was in 1971.

Currently it's the sixth oldest T34 worldwide and the oldest driving Type 3 model in North America.

When I removed the original rivets on the body VIN plate I discovered the Karmann body number underneath.  Since there are no 2-digit body numbers, this T34 would be the 37th T34 built at the Karmann factory.
