Conversion

I'd always planned to create a Cabriolet with this November 1961 Coupe as I already owned a beautiful Sea Blue 1965 T34 Coupe.

Several metal shops said they could try to make a metal folding top frame, but they wouldn't guarantee it would fit, with estimates at $6-7000.  So I decided on a removeable hardtop design.  I found a Carson top specialist in Santee that had lots of experience converting huge American cars, so I chose Ron Batson Sheetmetal for the conversion work.  It cost $1500 total and $700 was for the removable top.  Unfortunately, the rear window slope was wrong and never looked right, so I dumped it.

In late-February 2000 the work was done in only three days.  Solid steel beams were welded underneath the rocker sills to give support & prevent flexing.  The windshield frame was modified.  And the rear edge was modified to accept the top.
