License Plates

The Kansas license plate that was on the car is stamped 1975.  There are no annual registration decals to know when it was last driven.  BT stands for Barton County, which is where Ellinwood is located.

The Wheat Centennial is a special plate printed in 1975 marking the 100th anniversary of Kansas wheat. Mennonite immigrants from South Russia came to Kansas in 1874 and brought small amounts of Turkey Red hard winter wheat.  This wheat is why Kansas is called the 'Bread Basket' of the world.

Jack found a set of original California black & gold license plates that would have been issued to it in 1963.  He found a pair of AA plates which are perfect!  Then Lee bought a 1963 VW frame and the correct bracket for mounting the plate in the center of the area.
