This 1963 Variant was first discovered on ebay in September 2015 from Ellinwood Kansas.
Listed by the grandson who found his grandfather's Variant stored in the garage, it was claimed to have been there since 1975. Odometer reading was 54,648 miles. The ebay auction ended at $2000 on 29 Sep 2015 and the car was transported to Imperial Beach California to the new owner, Jack Fisher in December 2015.

The address of garage was 518 E 1st St, Ellinwood, KS 67526. The owner of the Variant was William "Bill" Eugene Byrum (57) who was living there in 2001. He passed away in June 2010 from cancer. His home was inherited by his daughter Tanya McCord (54), mother of the seller Chris McCord (35).

Bill Byrum was was a mechanic & transmission specialist most of his life, and was proud to fix anything put in front of him.
