"Audri" 1963 VW 1500 Variant

I've never liked the look of roof racks on T34s or Buses.  But when I was helping a Variant owner find a full-length roof rack I fell in-love with the look on the Variant!

Found one from Dan Payton that was made by a SoCal guy in 2012.  It had a nice patina that matched the look of our Audri.  $200

Reece is the builder from La Mirada.  In his first few years he copied the design by Pedro Sainz.  This is his early design.  Then later versions had less-expensive mounting brackets.

As the wood slats were aging badly & not protected I decided to restore them.  Stripped, varnished, & added fresh hardware.
