"Audri" 1963 VW 1500 Variant

The strap on my trapdoor had broken & the metal hook was missing.  Fortunately Pedro had an extra one to help me.

I bought 0.5" cotton twill strap material and got measurements from Eric Hand's original one.  Total length was 11.5" to the end of the hook.

Cut & dyed the strap material in coffee for several hours to get it to match the color of the original strap.  Then I threaded one end through the trapdoor slit & folded it over on itself with a bit of wire to wedge it into the gap, carefully pulling until it tightened.

Next I sewed the 0.5" flap holding the metal hook and tested the strap.  Everything worked perfectly!
